BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

Be Your Own Boss (BYOB) aims to adapt&transfer a methodology of adult education which develops entrepreneurial skills in learners &increases their capacity to create their own jobs.It is a solution to EU wide unemployment as it trains&provides adult educators with a flexible&practical coaching methodology (BYOB Europe) to enable learners in disadvantaged&peripheral communities to create their own employment&become entrepreneurs.

EXPECTED OBJECTIVES OUTPUTS RESULTS OF THE PROJECT

BYOB partners will work in several fields for reaching its objectives:

1. State of the art analysis and research.

All partners will ellaborate a document collecting important information in their regions as regards the need of adult educators, the world of work, what “wannabe self employment” need and want so they become self employed, existing support for the self employed, existing support for self employed people who wish to grow their enterprise.

2. Handbooks development

The project will create high quality training resources, which will be two handbooks, one for adult educators and one for incubators and entrepreneurs. The handbooks will ensure that the methodology is shaped into a guide for self employment.

3. Pilot phase

Netherlands, Spain and Bulgaria will develop a pilot phase selecting, in each country, adult educators, world of work representatives and leaders in order to discuss self employment developments, self employment start-up and self employment QEAS. After creating the right framework with all target groups, each region will implement a 6-month pilot phase for a minimum of 9 beneficiaries.

4. E-Resources development

During the pilot phase, partners will create e-resources showing the whole process and will develop also material for the case studies. That will includes videos showing the real application of the methodology.

5. Dissemination

During the whole project like, partners will create strong awareness of project results at european level, enhancing project visibility among policy makers, business incubators, people to want to be self employed, employability centres and adult educators. At the end of the project, partners will ensure the promotion of results, as well as the difussion of the materials created to target groups.

 

BYOB can benefit a wide variety of individuals and organizations:

  • Entrepreneurs from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Entrepreneurs from marginalized communities
  • Elderly entrepreneurs

 

Summarizing, anybody who has the potential, ambition or skills to be self-employed/entrepreneur irrespective of their background, age, gender or educational qualifications.

BYOB Pilot in Bulgaria 

Business Incubator – Gotse Delchev has started the BYOB pilot training in Bulgaria this September. The twelve trainees, most of them women, will find in the practice the answers of the questions like: Are you motivated to become self-employed? What are the benefits of self-employment? What risks and challenges it has? How much time and efforts could you devote to it? What skills it needs and how to develop them? Which main steps to make from the idea to the business? How to develop the business?
